MISSION & STORY

OUR MISSION

Our mission at KassieKares is to promote philanthropic student involvement through international travel and activities that allow young leaders to engage in meaningful experiences that positively impact children locally and in the developing world.

OUR STORY

"Sending positive thoughts to the Universe and God."
-20 year old Kass on SAS FA '17

Kassandra “Kassie” Braun of Fishers, Indiana, 20, tragically passed on November 7, 2017, while traveling abroad with Semester at Sea. Kassie was a 2015 graduate of Cathedral High School and was a Junior at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Throughout her school years, Kassie was heavily involved in many philanthropic endeavors, earning her Semester at Sea’s Impact-Service Learning Scholarship. Kassie was honored to serve in country and brought her experiences abroad back to others. Her role in country was to learn, interact, and assist in programs so she could bring that experience home, share it to broaden perspectives, encourage others to travel and also change lives. While her voyage circumnavigating the globe came to an abrupt end, her spirit and love of life and others continues to resonate in her hometown community, Texas, and indeed, around the world. Kassie began serving her community and giving back at a young age. Her dream was to assist with the development of future student leaders at home and around the globe.

Our belief is that Kassie’s light will never extinguish; it can and will carry-on through the young people in our community who are inspired to mirror her lifelong philanthropic heart. Kassie’s zeal to make God loved, known and served will be honored by funding the following three branches, all in the name of Kassie Braun:

  • Annual grants and need-based tuition assistance funds to Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Annual study abroad scholarship to St Edwards University in Austin, Texas.

  • Support through volunteers and construction of private Catholic schools in Abakaliki, Nigeria with the first school opening in Fall, 2019.

Overall, our long-term goal and commitment is to raise $3,500,000 to fully fund the school scholarships in the U.S. as well as the completion of the Kassie Braun Memorial Schools on the other side of the globe.
